Scheduled Completion: Spring 2026

Project Details

The $152 million construction contract includes safety, operational and state-of-good-repair improvements for all highway users.

Roadway and Pavement Improvements
  • Full depth pavement reconstruction along three miles of Route 70
  • Reconstruct deteriorated curb and sidewalk and install new sidewalks to fill gaps and provide connectivity throughout the project limits
  • Reconstruct all 350 curb ramps to ADA standards
  • Reconstruct access to residential and business driveways that are affected by pavement reconstruction
Drainage and Structural Improvements

  • Install new pedestrian countdown signals and pushbuttons at crosswalks
  • Upgrade five closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and upgrade two existing Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) locations and install two new DMS signs at MP 0.50 and at MP 1.77. DMS will alert motorists of roadway incidents or congestion
  • Upgrade lighting at signalized intersections to improve safety and replace existing streetlights with LED lighting fixtures
Utility Improvements
  • Replace 15,200 linear feet of PSE&G cast iron gas main with 18,000 linear feet of 24-inch steel gas main
